Lamination adds a protective film over the printed label. Choose the appearance together with the handling and overprinting requirements: the finish affects how the label looks, feels and runs on the intended packaging.
Matt or Gloss?

Protection Has Boundaries
A laminate can help protect the printed surface, but resistance to water, rubbing or chemicals depends on the film, adhesive and printed construction. It does not establish immersion resistance or repair poor adhesion to a bottle. Define the exposure and review a sample under those conditions.
Will You Print Dates or Batch Codes Later?
Tell us the printer model, printing technology and ink or ribbon. Overprinting compatibility varies with the laminate or coating and printing system. A printable varnish or a separately specified coding area may be appropriate. Confirm the result through print and rub testing before the full run.
Container and Application Checks
- For flexible or squeezable packs, check the combined stiffness and wrinkling of the complete label.
- For curved bottles, review edge lift after application and handling.
- For machine-applied rolls, confirm the finished thickness, liner and dispensing requirements.
- For foil or embossing, agree on the production sequence and sample appearance.
Lamination or Varnish?
The choice depends on the finish, exposure, overprinting and cost of the actual job. Varnish and laminate are different protective routes; compare samples against your requirements rather than assuming one is always necessary.
